About us

What we do

Cathelius is an independant game developer. We currently write games mainly for the Flash market, although we have some downloadable content also. Our games should be fun and we're firm believers in gameplay over content; a game's first priority should be to be a good game rather than a realistic game or pretty game.

History

Cathelius... it all started back in 1997, when Command and Conquer was new and exciting, networking was done with coaxial cable, and Sneeze hadn't even left school yet. After network games sessions, discussions were often had as to the ideal real-time strategy game. So, we set about writing our own.

Of course, life has this way of getting busier, and ten years later, we still don't have a RTS, and half of our ideas have been done already in games such as TA and Warzone. But using the skills garnered over the past 10 years, Sneeze decided after completing his PhD in 2007 that he would move into writing games full time.

In 2008, we moved into the flash game market, with some success in games such as Colourshift and Qilox, and a range of patience games. We have also started our own portal, Red Tower Games, in 2009, with a view towards bringing together the best strategy, puzzle and action games! 2009 also saw the creation of Rosamund's Bower, a collection of the web's finest patience and solitaire games.

Towards the end of 2009, we moved partially into comics, hosting and maintianing Busy Slacker Comics and producing games based on them, such as Blue Lighter Cult.
