Mistral works for me!
David is a little confused as to why it appears to be in Spanish, but he is not going to voice this confusion for fear that he has missed the point further along the line...
Been having lots of fun making pretty coloured dots dance around the screen, so all good.
No problems running this and no funny error messages. I actually really like the user interface for not being cluttered, and only turning up as and when you need it! |

| 25th Jan 2008 - 11:46 | by Ding | | Oh,incidently, I saw Mistral running on Matt's computer and it was significantly slower than mine.... On my machine, if you ask something to be built, the builders and carriers fly out of the castle like they're on fire, whereas on Matt's computer, it looks like you've woken them up in the middle of their siesta... I was wondering which speed is meant to be the right speed: Dave-speed or Matt-speed? |
| 25th Jan 2008 - 14:20 | by sneeze | | It's not timesynced, so it'll run as fast as it can. This is partly on purpose, although I might put a frame limiter on later, but I suspect that actually people will want to run it faster rather than slower in the long run - in the development version I have a lot more buildings available, and it's already beginning to show vague signs of slowdown when there's a lot of them. Nothing too significant yet, at least, though... and my laptop isn't exactly speedy ;) |
| 5th Feb 2008 - 14:26 | by Ding | Hooray! New minions to boss around. New version works for me! All good. I especially like sending geologists roaming around the mountains, and rearranging my paths when I make numerous stylistic mistakes. After all, if it's MY virtual kingdom, I'll build it how I want it....
Looking forward to fights, scraps, and general adversity that is heralded by the inclusion of a weaponsmith... |
| 5th Feb 2008 - 15:20 | by sneeze | | alas, fights are a looong way away... because really you need another player for those. The swords and shields are needed for making knights, which are used to claim land, and since I'm adding land ownership, that'll be pretty vital. I suspect that when actual combat comes along, it'll be pretty boring because the computer player won't be all that great initially... |

| 26th Jun 2008 - 13:44 | by sneeze | | We've been taking a bit of a breather from Mistral for a while - it's a big project, and we've got a bit burnt out on it. Hence the myriad of other things on this site :) We could add a new release at some point soon though, we've got a version with models rather than cubes in a state that's possibly ok. |
| 26th Jun 2008 - 23:35 | by jansic | The next steps are to get the menus working and model everything properly.
There are some models in place but I don't think that build's been made. I have a 3D model-making list as long as a very long thing; and not being an artist it's slightly daunting at the moment. |
