I keep meaning to mention this - on some computers, the recent forum posts box appears above the news rather than alongside like it should. Possibly an IE problem, it's certainly always been on windows boxes. If anyone has more info it'd be handy :)
Well the html seens valid so I can only presume it's something with non-conformant div handling - which includes IE6 and earlier.
If it is a browser issue with the wishy-washy div layout I hacked in then the only practical solution is to revert to the table layout. My upcoming (slow) website rework may fix this but if it doesn't then people are going to just have to move into the future.
I don't think it's particularly old machines necessarily - I think my sister's laptop was something that had it, and that's quite new (has vista, for example, I think).
But also other things are catching it - for example see lightshift on gamedumper - (the picture is made via websnapr) if you mouse over the url, it shows the broken version. No massive rush if there's a possible fix on the horizon though.
I have (accidentally) reproduced this. It seems to be related to the Vista packaged release of IE7 and its showdoc engine. It affects other bits of the site subtly, manifesting itself as incorrect alignments and justifications.
