<br>Her hand swept across the table, casting glasses and plates onto the floor as she pushed herself up from her chair. She towered above the man opposite, her eyes flowing with hate. She slammed a fist onto the table, splintering the wood and making the man jump backwards.

<br>\"There\'s no divinity,\" she hissed, \"No holy light. No watchful guardian. There will be no forgiveness, nor retribution, nor justice, nor,\" and she winced the words out, \"nor will there be love.\" She paused, her gaze burning rage into his own frightened stare. Then suddenly, she grasped the cracked wood and tore the table apart.

<br>\"Do you understand?\" she shouted. The fallen table clattered to a standstill, laced with rattling cuttlery. \"Do you understand?\"

<br>The man nodded quickly, short sharp motions with his chin.

<br>\"Good.\" She stood to her full height again, straightening her clothing. \"We\'re good then, aren\'t we? We understand each other.\" She stepped forward, reaching for the man as he flinched away. \"It\'s okay, darling. Really.\" She pulled him close, whispering \"It\'s all okay,\" as her wings folded around them. |
