Mistral

Mistral is a project working towards a game along the lines of The Settlers (the original version). In this game, you control a castle and its occupants, and you have to attempt to conquer the world. This is done by creating an army of knights, but in order to create this army you will need to build an economy capable of supporting people such as miner, farmers and lumberjacks. You will also need to create a transport network to bring goods to where they are required.

Hare's a Screenshot.

The game is work in progress, and not all features are implemented; see the status page for details. In particular, the graphics are not particularly complete at the moment. You can also follow day to day progress on Sneeze's Blog.

Downloads

Windows: r20080409 (zip; approx 1.9MB)
Linux/x86: r20080409 (tar.bz2; approx 1.7MB)

This is an older version, on the off chance I've broken things with the above one. Note that this is using the old graphics, so is not really comparable.
Windows: r20080220 (zip; approx 700k)
Linux/x86: r20080219 (tar.bz2; approx 800k)

Requirements

It'll probably run on most systems reasonably well, although this may change in the future as map sizes increase and the number of buildings, units and objects are increased. It does require OpenGL, however.

Helping Us

We are more than amenable to people helping us continue to provide free games. The simplest way is to give us money, eg donate via paypal - we have to feed ourselves somehow! Other ways in which you can help is to post in our forums, especially if you have clear and precise bug reports, but even just to say hi, since we like the encouragement. Finally, if anyone wishes to correct my Spanish, or provide text in any other western/northern european language, then we'd appreciate it.
